Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 5, 2026
The short version. My Parents is a private app a family uses to keep their parents’ medical records in one place. We only access a parent’s records with consent, we use the data to show and explain those records to the family, we never sell it and never use it for advertising, we protect it with encryption, and you can disconnect a provider or ask us to delete everything at any time.
My Parents (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Edenville Labs LLC. This policy explains what information the app handles, how we use it, who we share it with, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It is a binding commitment: we will only do what this policy says.
1. Who this app is for
My Parents is an invite-only tool for a family to view and organize an aging parent’s health information. The people who use it are the family members an account holder authorizes. The parents whose records appear in the app are not required to be users; their records are added with their consent or by an authorized caregiver acting on their behalf.
2. Health information we access
When you connect a healthcare provider (for example, a hospital patient portal), the app retrieves that parent’s clinical records through our connection partner, Fasten Connect, using the patient’s own portal login and consent. This can include:
- Medications and prescriptions
- Lab and test results
- Conditions and diagnoses
- Allergies
- Visit and after-visit summaries
- Appointments
You can also add records, notes, and documents manually (for example, a photo or PDF of an after-visit summary).
3. Other information we collect
To run the app we also handle a small amount of account information: the email address used to sign in, and basic technical data needed to keep the service working and secure (such as sign-in session data). Sign-in is passwordless; we do not store passwords.
4. How we use the information
- To display and organize each parent’s records for the family.
- To generate plain-language explanations of labs, results, and medications.
- To let the family share notes, appointments, and tasks.
- To operate, secure, and support the app.
We do not use the records for marketing, advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the ones listed here.
5. Use of AI
To explain medical information in plain language, we send the relevant record text to Anthropic’s Claude API. That data is used only to produce the explanation you asked for. It is not used to train AI models. If we ever change how AI is used with your data, we will tell you first.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers needed to run the app, each of which is bound to use it only on our instructions:
- Fasten Connect— securely connects to your providers and retrieves the records.
- Supabase— the encrypted database, file storage, and sign-in.
- Vercel— hosting for the app.
- Anthropic— the AI that writes the plain-language explanations (see Section 5).
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect safety, rights, or property.
7. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your health information or personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or automated decision-making about you.
8. Consent
A provider connection is set up only with the patient’s consent, or by a caregiver authorized to act on the patient’s behalf. Sharing inside the app is limited to the family members the account holder invites. Nothing is shared by default. Any non-essential communication (such as product updates) would require your separate opt-in.
9. Your rights and choices
You can, at any time:
- See the information the app holds about a parent.
- Correct or annotate information (clinical records are corrected at the source provider; see Section 10).
- Disconnect a provider to stop future syncing.
- Deletea parent’s data, or close the account and have the data deleted.
- Export a copy of the data.
To exercise any of these, contact us (Section 16) and we will act promptly.
10. Accuracy of records
Clinical records come directly from your providers’ systems. If something is wrong in a medical record, the correction has to be made with the provider that created it; the app reflects what the provider has on file.
11. How to revoke access
You can disconnect any connected provider from within the app, which stops the app from retrieving new records from that provider. You can also ask us to delete records that were already retrieved. When you disconnect, our connection partner stops accessing that provider on your behalf.
12. Data retention and deletion
We keep a parent’s records for as long as the family is using the app to care for them. When you delete data or close the account, we delete the associated records from our database. Our connection partner, Fasten Connect, automatically deletes its temporary copy of a retrieved export within roughly 24 hours.
13. Security
We protect information with industry-standard safeguards: encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest in the database, passwordless sign-in, and access restricted to the specific family members on the account’s access list. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep this data private and protected.
14. Breach notification
If a breach affected your information, we will notify you and any authorities as required by applicable law, without unreasonable delay.
15. A note about family information
A parent’s medical record can sometimes mention relatives (for example, family history). By using the app you understand that such references may appear within the parent’s records.
16. Children
My Parents is built for adults caring for adult parents. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
17. Your data and HIPAA
Once a patient directs their records from a provider to this app, that data is generally no longer covered by HIPAA. The app is not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate. Instead, your information is protected by this Privacy Policy (which is legally enforceable) and by applicable consumer-protection and privacy laws. We follow the privacy commitments of the CARIN Alliance Code of Conduct for consumer health apps.
18. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we will give you notice and, where appropriate, ask for your consent again. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
19. If the app changes hands or shuts down
If the app is ever transferred, sold, or discontinued, we will give you notice and a chance to export or delete the data before any change takes effect.
